Release Blitz & Excerpt: Genie by Kitty French

releasekitty

  GENIE

kittys

Feathers. Lies. Glitter. Secrets. Lust. Meet Genie Divine, the wise-cracking London show-girl on a hell-bent mission to save her beloved family theatre. Now meet Abel Kingdom, the australian gym mogul determined to buy it out from underneath her. On paper they have nothing in common, and when they meet, they have even less. The only thing they DO have is chemistry. Undeniable, rip-my-clothes-off-and-do-me-now-against-the-wall chemistry. He wants her theatre. She wants him dead. The stage is set for an explosive summer…

The lift doors behind them slid open and he half dragged her inside the glittering, mirrored and thankfully empty chamber. As the doors closed, he pushed her against the back wall and lifted her clean off her feet, cradling her face in his hands as his crotch burned into her, hot and hard. His eyes told her that he was as far down the line as he was. ‘I can’t take my fucking eyes off you,’ he breathed. ‘Or my hands.’ Genie didn’t want him to take his hands off her. She wanted him to use them to rip her dress from her body and screw her right there against the wall of the lift. This wasn’t about his business with her uncle any more. It was about the fact that no man had ever touched her like this, made her feel like this, in her entire life. It was about the fact that this was so far beyond turned on. He made her burn for him, as if she were stifling and the only thing that would give her air was the orgasm he was about to give her. ‘Then don’t,’ she said, her fingers on the buttons of his shirt. She wanted him out of it. ‘Don’t take your hands off me. Put them on me.’ His dark eyes glittered, and the lift juddered to a halt as his palm slammed over the emergency stop button. ‘We’ve got three minutes before the override kicks back in,’ he told her, and Genie gasped as he rucked her skirt up and slid his hand up her thigh. She had his shirt open and dragged it free of his trousers. Rock star beautiful, his hand skimmed her panties. She was lost in how good he was. Three minutes would have to be enough. ‘Put your hands all over me, Abel.’ His tongue slid between her lips as he kissed her, his fingers stroking over the silk between her legs. ‘Is this where you want me to touch you, Beauty?’ He whispered. Beauty. The endearment on his lips flipped her stomach almost as much as his touch between her legs did. ‘Here?’ He pushed the satin aside and ran the back of his fingers over her. His tongue traced her mouth, mirroring the sensation. So much, and still nowhere near enough. Yes, there. Yes, more. She rocked into his fingers, moaning as they moved into her folds. Abel held her steady between his body and the wall as he opened her, explored her. ‘You feel fucking amazing,’ he muttered, his voice barely there, raw. Genie clung to him, her mouth on the bunched muscles of his tanned shoulder where she’d pushed his shirt back. He was beautiful in the most masculine sense of the word. Hard. Sexy. Lava hot. And very, very turned on, if his shallow breathing pattern was anything to go on. She knew now just how much he’d been holding back downstairs. He was like a sexual force of nature. Unstoppable. She bit down and gasped as he drew patterns on her clitoris, his mouth hot on her ear. ‘I’m gonna slide my cock inside you,’ he whispered, switching to a steady rhythm. ‘Right here,’ he pushed two fingers inside her, his thumb still working her clit. Genie cried out, opening wider, clamping her leg around his thigh. ‘Beauty...’ he breathed as he ran his tongue over her ear. ‘Sweet Jesus...’ he groaned as she rode herself against his hand. She was going to come. He had her rapt, spiralling, grinding down on his pumping fingers. She wanted everything he had. His hands, his mouth, his cock. All of it, right here in this lift. She couldn’t breathe, she was so close, so ready. ‘Oh my fucking God,’ she gasped, biting her lip as he slammed her harder against the wall, his mouth all over hers, his fingers knuckle deep inside her. She opened her eyes almost in shock as her orgasm started, and found his eyes open too, watching her. Dark. Lost. Possessive. Filthy. His lips parted slightly as his breath dragged out of his chest and his hips rocked against his hand between her legs. It was as close to fucking as it got. Every inch of Genie’s body tensed as he crooked his fingers inside her, massaging her g-spot. ‘Abel...’ He held her steady and kissed her through it. Through every dazzling, bone-melting second of her orgasm, every breathless gasp, every tremor. His lips roved over her mouth, drinking from her, connecting her to him in every way possible as her body broke hard for him. ‘That was pretty fucking sexy,’ he whispered a few seconds later, slowly straightening her panties and smoothing her dress over her hips before buttoning his shirt as the lift started to move again. She swallowed with difficulty as the doors slid open, unable to speak yet. Hell, she could barely stand up. ‘Not our floor,’ Abel mouthed against her ear, moving to stand close behind her against the wall as several people stepped into the car. A couple. A businessman. Was it obvious to them what they’d just been doing? Surely it had to be written all over her face that she’d just had the best orgasm of her life? Abel’s hand rested on her hip, and as the car began to move he drew her back and settled his still hard cock against her ass. ‘How do you want it?’ he spoke quietly, but Genie was pretty certain the other woman heard him. He kissed her neck slowly, sending a shudder of pleasure from her scalp to her toes. ‘Like this, from behind?’ he murmured as his fingers spanned her stomach, holding her against his erection as more people stepped in at the next floor. Clearly their three-minute lift stop had caused something of a backlog. It was getting a little crowded. She all but yelped as his hand moved over her ass. ‘want you on your knees...’ he whispered, and she closed her eyes. The man melted her. ‘I want you on your back...’ his voice was lethal in her ear. ‘I want you on my cock, Beauty.’ The lift stopped again at the last but one floor and everyone except Genie and Abel stepped out of the car. As the doors slid closed, the woman turned back and flicked an appreciative glance towards Abel, and an envious one at Genie. She couldn’t blame her. The man radiated sex, and right now, late night and turned on, he was the dictionary definition of hot as hell.

Blog Tour, Excerpt & Giveaway: Slow Burn by K. Bromberg

Meet Becks & Haddie in SLOW BURN - the newest stand alone in the Driven Series by K. Bromberg!

“Yeah. That’s one way to put it. Is there something else you called for besides trying to stick your nose in where it doesn’t belong?”
I open my mouth and then shut it, unsure how calling him because I just needed to hear his voice has devolved so quickly into this. Into me scrambling for words I can’t find to fix shit that doesn’t need fixing.
Because I don’t want this. Don’t want him.
“Well then, if you want to actually talk instead of pull this ridiculous bullshit, I’m here for you…but Had…? Whatever this is here…this passive aggressive crap? I don’t do too well with that. We had our one night. You made it quite clear you didn’t want anything more than that so you don’t get to call me up and question what I might or might not be doing with anybody else. You want no strings? Then cut the ties…but frankly I don’t think you know what the fuck you want so until you figure your shit out, I think it’s best that we say good night before we make a bad situation even worse.”
“Wait!” Desperation rings in my voice in the single word. And I hate myself for sounding like this but I’m so lonely, so scared and just want the comfort I know he can bring me right now.
I wait for the sound of the dial tone to assault my ears. Wait for the incessant beep that reaffirms why I have barbed wire wrapped around my heart – painful but necessary. But there is nothing for a few moments until I hear the phone scrape against the stubble on his face.
And I wait…my throat burning with the tears I want to shed but am so sick of. The ones that no longer bring me comfort.
“I’m here, Haddie. I’m not going anywhere, okay?” The timbre of his voice carries his concern and sympathy to me through the line.
The incoherent sound I make is all I can offer in thank you to him for not hanging up on me. For not giving up on me.

ONE NIGHT. THAT'S ALL IT WAS SUPPOSED  TO BE.

Reeling from the sudden loss of her sister, Haddie Montgomery has sworn off relationships. All she wanted from Beckett Daniels was a sexy distraction to help her escape her pain for just a little while....There weren’t supposed to be any strings attached—so why can’t she shake the memory of that unforgettable night from her thoughts? Or the taste of his kiss from her lips?
No matter how hard Haddie tries to forget about him, Becks relentlessly tries to prove that she should start living for today. But she is determined to avoid romantic commitment, and she can always use her ex-boyfriend’s reappearance to help snuff out the slow burn within her that Becks has sparked....
Or will fate force her to realize that this kind of connection doesn’t come along very often and a chance at love is worth the risk?

Christie's review: The Salvation of Vengeance by Nancy Havilland

23470870

Title:The Salvation of Vengeance
Series: Wanted Men #2
Author: Nancy Haviland
Release Date: March 24, 2015
Rating:2.5 stars
Cliffhanger: no

Only something as important as her best friend’s wedding to mob boss Gabriel Moretti could allow Nika Paynne a reprieve from captivity. Her abusive husband has kept her under his thumb with footage of her beloved brother, Caleb, killing another man. But the respite from her violent life isn’t the only draw. Vincente Romani—Gabriel’s deadliest guardian—will be one of the best men at the wedding, and Nika has lingering thoughts about the fascinating mobster…covetous thoughts that may put her life in danger.

With the heartbreak he’s suffered and the brutality he effortlessly delivers, Vincente knows he’s the last person who can offer Nika a happily-ever-after. But his vow remains. He will do everything in his power to free his redhead from her violent prison—even if that means losing her forever.

In the second thrilling and passionate Wanted Men book, a dangerous line is drawn between loyalty to the mob and loyalty to one’s heart.

After the nicely executed tease we got in the end of A Love of Vengeance, I was more than ready to get my hands on this couple's story. The immediate attraction and lust they felt was scorching. Add into that the secret abuse that Nika endures at the hands of her husband, you've got one hell of a lead in. It gave this book a lot of tantalizing potential. However, with all due respect to this talented author, this book just simply did not deliver on that potential for me personally. There were a couple of issues I took with the set up of the plot, but they were big ones.

I clicked right away with this author's style of writing in her previous book. She's created a large assemblage of fascinating mafia characters, each one detailed enough to make you desperate to get to know them better in their own book. All the mafia "brothers" are tough, intimidating alpha types that are loyal to the core. That being said, my main emotion threading through this entire book was frustration.

Our hero in this book is Vincente, Gabriel's (the mob boss) deadliest guardian. He's nicknamed "The Reaper", so naturally, I was anticipating quite an intimidating enforcer.

Sadly, I just wasn't feeling that due to the direction the plot took away from any real mafia storylines. I never really got to see proof of his menacing and deadly side. As they say, he talked the talk, but didn't walk the walk. He spent the entire book mentally pining for the heroine while at the same time repeatedly lying to himself and everyone else about how he feels. This dragged on way, way too long in my opinion. Realistically, looking back at it, it took the entire book for him to admit to his feelings and accept a future with her. Yes, he did cave a couple of times physically, but then immediately went right back to denial.
I'm sorry, but when it takes until the 97% mark for his resistance against her to break, that's too much for me to handle. I need to see the main couple strong and united and happy together for more than the last 3 percent of the book.

The main path that this story leads us down is through the discovery of Nika's horrific abuse, her own healing process (as well as her loved ones), and Vincente's push and pull attitude toward her.

After her ordeal, she deserved peace and happiness more than anyone. With him, she'd never get it. Not in the violent, fucked-up circles he traveled.

I want her. Her. Not just the satisfaction of knowing I've helped a woman out of a shit situation. But her, damage and all.

He flip flopped between these two rationales over and over and over until I just wanted to start skimming to where he drops his "I'm not good enough" attitude.

There was also some conflict revolving around her sadistic ex and their attempts to capture him after he goes off the deep end. What I didn't see was an intricately woven conflict rooted in the mafia underworld, and honestly, I really wanted to see more association in the plot than what I got.

Nika's vivid recollection of the terrifying life she endured at the hands of her husband was presented in a gratifyingly chilling manner. And I was very happy with the author's explanation as to why this seemingly strong and confident woman would stay in such a nightmare for so long. Rather than her staying out of fear or intimidation, it's revealed that she's being blackmailed to stay because he has incriminating evidence against her brother who is part of an MC. Her ex was truly a vicious and brutal man, which made her healing process a necessary addition to the story.

Vincente also has quite the sad and tragic past and that was the main thing linking them emotionally, I felt. They both went through hell for their brother or sister and could really relate and identify with each other's lingering pain. But as much as I wanted to feel their connection, Vincente's frustrating as hell stubbornness greatly diminished that in my eyes.

Would I read another book by Nancy Haviland? Absolutely, I would. I fell in love with the amazing group of characters she's created in this series, and while this couple was a miss for me for my own personal reasons, I would happily revisit the series in the books to come. Every one of the secondary characters have the potential for a gripping tale.

Blog Tour, Giveaway & Eliza's Review: Fighting Silence by Aly Martinez

Meet Till & Eliza in Aly Martinez’s newest fighter series!

NOW AVAILABLE
Amazon UK: http://amzn.to/1Lhhn62

Sound is an abstract concept for most people. We spend our lives blocking out the static in order to focus on what we believe is important. But what if, when the clarity fades into silence, it's the obscure background noise that you would give anything to hold on to?
I've always been a fighter. With parents who barely managed to stay out of jail and two little brothers who narrowly avoided foster care, I became skilled at dodging the punches life threw at me. Growing up, I didn’t have anything I could call my own, but from the moment I met Eliza Reynolds, she was always mine.  I became utterly addicted to her and the escape from reality we provided each other. Throughout the years, she had boyfriends and I had girlfriends, but there wasn't a single night that I didn’t hear her voice.
You see, meeting the love of my life at age thirteen was never part of my plan. However, neither was gradually going deaf at the age of twenty-one.
 They both happened anyway.
Now, I'm on the ropes during the toughest battles of my life.
Fighting for my career.
Fighting the impending silence.
Fighting for her.
Every night, just before falling asleep, she sighs as a final conscious breath leaves her.

I think that's the sound I'll miss the most.

"That wasn't yours to take away," he exploded into the otherwise silent night. His words echoed off the surrounding buildings, each wave slicing me to the quick all over again. "That was our place. Not yours." His voice cracked right alongside my heart.
"Yeah, well, there was a lot of stuff that wasn't yours to take either." I held his gaze, desperately trying to be strong, but as his eyes grew wide, I whimpered.
His long legs strode forward, stopping only inches away from me. He was crowding me, but he still leaned in closer to my face. "There is nothing in this world that was ever more mine than you," he stated. Though it was the absolute truth, I wished with all my heart that it were a lie.
"Till," I cried, swiping the tears from my eyes.
"Why!" he shouted, causing his muscles to tense under the force. "Goddamn it! I needed that place."
Porch lights flashed on from the surrounding apartments, illuminating not only the dark but also my rage.
I shoved my hands into his chest. "What about what I needed? You left! I waited in that fucking apartment for weeks."
He didn't budge, but my bare feet slipped, sending me toward the ground. Impossibly fast, Till's hand snaked out and caught my arm. I didn't let his chivalrous gesture douse my fire. I had six months’ worth of words to say to the man I was irrevocably in love with.
"You took what you wanted. Then you left me."
"Doodle," he whispered.
I had been perilously close to the edge of insanity, and with one single word, he’d pushed me over.
I lost it completely.
Pounding my fists against his chest, I screamed at the top of my lungs, "It's Eliza! My name is fucking Eliza! Not Doodle!" I spun to march away, but Till's arms folded around me, lifting me off my feet to restrain me.
I was miniscule compared to him. There was no use in fighting, but I still kicked my legs, irrationally desperate to get away from him—but only because I knew I couldn't keep him for forever.
"Stop it!" he growled into my ear. "I know your Goddamn name—probably better than I know my own.""That wasn't yours to take away," he exploded into the otherwise silent night. His words echoed off the surrounding buildings, each wave slicing me to the quick all over again. "That was our place. Not yours." His voice cracked right alongside my heart.

Metaphorically speaking Till & Eliza are both fighters, from a young age they shouldered responsibility young children should not have to face and in doing so practically raised themselves. Seeking solace in their friendship that took them away from their reality Till and Eliza developed a relationship that blossomed over the years. They came to depend on each other and although they did not always see eye to eye, the bond they had would not easily be broken.

I found it an enjoyable sweet read and although I found some parts not as engaging the last 30% in particular took the book to another level. The title may be "Fighting Silence" but the message of love and it's sacrifice was loud and clear.

"I claimed Eliza Reynolds final first. And every. Single. One. Of her lasts."
